About Sheriff James "Jimbob" McCrary
James has lived and worked in Cedar County for 47 years. He and his family moved here from Arkansas in 1970. He graduated from Stockton High School in 1978. James began his working career with Hammons Products after graduating and through the years continued to make Cedar County his home and career location, working for Superior Gearbox, Fugate Motors, Ozark Timber Frame and a cattle farm west of Stockton for several years.
In 1988, James attended Missouri Southern Police Academy and began working with the City of Stockton Police Department. In 1999 he was appointed Chief of Police, a position he held for approximately three years. Due to a consolidation of City and County Law Enforcement, James began working with the Cedar County Sheriff's Office as Chief Investigator. James is a member of the Southwest MO Major Case Squad and has worked with three drug task forces.
James has 25 years of experience in Law Enforcement, including experience in investigations, patrol, court security, administration, evidence and much more.
