2020 Tax Payback Press Release

Press release:

    The First installment of the County tax over collection payback, year 2020, has been mailed. Please watch for it and remove it from your mailbox immediately.  One card representing each parcel will be delivered. Many cards contain less than one dollar. 

[The formula for calculation is 1.2 million divided by 18,000+ divided by 4.] the general revenue tax levy was the only portion involved. The school’s portion was not affected.

It is important that you receive what you are owed.

When you receive a card, please use it. If you do not redeem your card, it does not go back to the County. 

The cards do have a fee, but is not applied to the balance until after a full year, at that point funds start coming off, but is returned to the individual through the unclaimed property of the state of Missouri if it goes unclaimed and unused

It is possible to transfer the cash value to your bank account, Venmo, PayPal, etc. Managing your card or consolidating cards is done directly through the Rapid Financial support staff.    877-287-2448.

Also, if you are having issues, please contact Rapid Financial support and speak with a live representitive to ensure everything is accurate and activated.

We at the Cedar County Courthouse do not have access to be able to help, as all funds were reliqueshed to Rapid Financial and their staff are trained to deal with the 2020 tax funds that are loaded on the cards. To clarify even though the pamplet states there will be fees, THERE ARE NO FEES INCURRED UNTIL AFTER A FULL YEAR!

Cedar County Assessors Office Job Opening- Office Clerk

The Cedar County Assessor’s Office is seeking a detail‑oriented, dependable, and customer‑focused individual to serve as a OFFICE CLERK. This position plays a key role in assisting Cedar County residents with personal property assessments and supporting the daily operations of the Assessor’s Office.

Position Overview

The Office Clerk is responsible for processing personal property listings, maintaining accurate assessment records, reviewing real estate transaction deeds, and providing front‑line customer service to the public. This role requires strong organizational skills, accuracy in data entry, and the ability to communicate effectively with taxpayers and coworkers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with completing and updating personal property assessment forms.
  • Enter and maintain personal property data in the county assessment system.
  • Answer questions in person, by phone, and by email regarding assessment procedures and deadlines.
  • Verify ownership information for vehicles, boats, trailers, and other taxable personal property.
  • Prepare and mail assessment lists and related correspondence.
  • Work closely with the Assessor and office staff to ensure timely and accurate assessment processing.
  • Perform general office duties, including filing, scanning, and document management.
  • Assist with real estate transfers

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and apply Missouri personal property assessment laws and procedures.
  • Proficiency with computers, office software, and basic office equipment.
  • Prior office, clerical or legal experience preferred but not required.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Full‑time, Monday–Friday schedule.
  • Work performed in a professional office setting with regular public interaction.

Compensation

  • Salary and benefits are based on county policy and experience.
  • 90 day probation period.
